Mime Skills Workshop
Mime skills are important to the professional
interpreter because of their relationship to the visual nature of American
Sign Language. Classifiers, eye gaze locatives and use of space are
all enhanced by learning sense memory techniques used by professional
mimes all over the world. Maryanne was trained in Edina, Minnesota in
the Greg Goldstein style of mime.
Workshop will include:
- Eye contact exercises
- Mirror game
- Decorate your room with people as furniture
- "Be a flower, be a race car, ice cream
cone"
- Pass the object: real and mimed
- Use the object: real and mimed
- Describe and use an item without signs
- Tell a short story without signs
- Tell a fairy tale using only classifiers, face
and action
