Fingerspelling Workshop

Workshop is designed for beginners and intermediate signers.

The instructor will teach a rubric for recognizing shapes of letters divided into five categories. Then, using a "Hangman" format, participants will use the rubric as an aid first by words, then sentences, then in text, to recognize key shapes in lone words, embedded in sentences and finally in text.

Students will participate in a group game of Hangman, recognizing the letters in words by shapes, then decipher words in sentences and text. As success is demonstrated, students will break into pairs or work alone toward the same goals.
