These fingerspelling practice modules are an excellent way to improve your fingerspelling skills by working in a more realistic fingerspelling environment. Each module offers different levels of difficulty. Fingerspelling Fill-Ins are for beginners who need more time reading fingerspelling. Fingerspelled Business Cards are perfect for interpreters who are preparing for their certification tests. Embedded Fingerspelling provides great practice for interpreters who work with video relay calls.
The files can be downloaded to any Windows or Macintosh computer. After you make your purchase, you will be redirected to a download site. The files will download in a .zip format that can be opened with any standard unzipping program.
Fingerspelled Fill-Ins 1
The first level of fingerspelling practice is designed to build an interpreter's confidence when reading fingerspelling. The module includes several different categories with up to 15 fingerspelled words per category. The student can watch the fingerspelling video, then type the appropriate response in the box at the bottom of the page. Fingerspelled Fill-Ins 2
The second level of fingerspelling practice picks up where the first level left off. The fingerspelled words in this set are made up of real words that would be fingerspelled in normal conversation. Fingerspelled Business Cards 1
The fingerspelled business cards module is exactly what it sounds like. There are videos of an interpreter fingerspelling random names, cities, states, zip codes, and telephone numbers. Students can pause the video between pieces of information to type in their answers in the field at the bottom of the page. The information has been jumbled so that all hints of schema are completely removed. download for $14.99

This second business cards module is more of the same from the first business cards module. There are new names, cities, states, zip codes, and phone numbers to give interpreters more practice at reading fingerspelled words without any background knowledge. download for $14.99
Embedded Fingerspelling
This module includes several stories that are broken into sentences that contain fingerspelled words. Each sentence allows students to type in the words that they believe were fingerspelled so that they will know if they were right. Some hints are given, including the signed sentence in English with blank spaces for the fingerspelled words. This module was filmed in a real-life situation that is similar to the type of lighting and background that an interpreter would experience if he or she were working for a video relay call. download for $14.99
